Special Wonder: Wild Flowers

Bright and Beautiful Poppies!

Bright and Beautiful Poppies!

This week’s special wonder is all about one of Flower Belle’s very favourite things – wild flowers.

At this time of year, wild flowers are blooming here, there and everywhere! One of the nice things about wild flowers is that you don’t have to plant them or look after them – they just pop up like pretty surprises.

Best of all, they don’t just grow in the countryside – you can find them growing by roadsides, in ditches, woods, by streams and rivers and even in your garden!

Here are five of Flower Belle’s favourite wild flowers. See if you can spot them next time you’re out and about!

Make a Daisy Crown!

Make a Daisy Crown!

1. Poppies. Beautiful red poppy petals flutter in the breeze and shake their seeds everywhere, cheering up grey wastelands and hedgerows.
2. Buttercups. This pretty yellow flower is a wild flower not a weed! Some people think that if you hold a buttercup under your chin and it makes your skin glow, then it means you like butter.
3. Clover. Bees love the pink and white fluffy flowers of clover. Some people say that if you find a clover with four leaves, then it will bring you good luck!
4. Daisies. Lovely bright daisies grow all year round – often in your own garden. Why not pick lots and make a beautiful daisy chain crown or necklace for your friends?
5. Forget-Me-Nots. These tiny blue flowers pop up all over the place during summer. You can pick them to make a posy and give them to a friend so that they always remember you!

If you spot any of them, why not draw a picture or take a photo and email it to us? Have a lovely wild flower-spotting week, with love and magic dust from the Magic Belles!
